The original plan for today was to arrive at London's Heathrow airport at 8:45, then drive down to Land's End to arrive around 17:00 and then ride the first 20 miles to Hayle this evening. Unfortunately the weather Gods conspired and successfully scuttled this plan. Our flight from Washington DC was delayed by 3 hours due to severe thunderstorms over the North East of the USA, causing many of the air routes to Europe to be closed. This meant a departure just before midnight with arrival at Heathrow at midday today. With the time to clear immigration and the 6 hour drive down we eventually arrived at our overnight stop at 7:30pm much too late to start.
So the plan now for Friday Day 1 is to tack the 20 miles on from today and put in 90 miles and 5400ft of climbing. This is going to require an early start with a planned 7:30 ride out from Land's End.
On a positive note, my bike "Norman Norcross" arrived unscathed and is now reassembled and ready for the off.
So until tomorrow, good night from Cornwall.
Glad everyone arrived with all parts intact.
